National Level
NAMI - The National Alliance on Mental Illness is "dedicated
to the eradication of mental illnesses and  to the
improvement of the quality of life for persons of all ages
who are affected by mental illnesses." They have information
on mental illness, provide educational material, support,
and advocacy.

National Coalition for Disability Rights - A group of
people "united to defend and promote the American with
Disabilities Act (ADA) and the human rights of children and
adults with physical, mental, cognitive and developmental
disabilities." Basically, If your Rights are being infringed
upon because you have a diagnosis, these guys can point
you in the right direction.

Icarus Project - A grass roots organization that believes that
people with mental illness "have mad gifts to be cultivated
and taken care of, rather than diseases or disorders to be
suppressed or eliminated." This is a community that
provides community and support for people with mental
illness as well as educational information and a place for
creative expression and advocacy. They are a lot like NAMI,
but see mental illness as a dangerous gift rather than
something that needs "eradication."

National Empowerment Center - A consumer led, recovery
based National empowerment agency.

National Council on Disability - Independent federal agency that
advises the president and congress on how to improve life for
people with disabilities. They have articles on Current and
proposed policy and ways to inform them so that they can
consider your opinion.

The Clearing House - Consumer run organization that supports
consumer empowerment , involvement in planning services,
and self advocacy. They also have a lot of resources available.

National Youth Leadership Network - Promotes youth
leadership in the realm of disabilities. Educates, works
towards inclusion, and empowers youth to make changes in
public policy.

American Association of People with Disabilities - Helps
enforce disability law- these guys are the ones to talk to if you
have a disability discrimination complaint.

Autism Self Advocacy Network - Autistic run organization that
works to improve positive representations of Artistic in public
policy and culture. Supports individuals on the spectrum.

State Level
Pennsylvania NAMI - This is our state level NAMI branch.
They have programs, contacts, and information that is
relevant to our state.

Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumer's Association -
Promotes and supports "recovery through advocacy and
education to eliminate stigma and discrimination.

Education Law Center - "a non-profit legal advocacy and               
   educational organization, dedicated to ensuring that all of           
   Pennsylvania's children have access to a quality public                
   education. " Basically, when the school refuses to follow your      
   IEP repeatedly, these guys are the ones to call.
Local
Venango County Court Supervision Services - Exactly what it        
   sounds like- they deal with probation, parole, DUIs, etc.

Venango Training and Development Center, Inc. - "Assists            
  disabled and/or disadvantaged individuals to achieve their          
  highest potential by providing quality programs, services, and     
  opportunities." Helps with employment and training for people     
  with disabilities or who are "disadvantaged."
Regional
Youth Outreach Union - A group in Pittsburgh similar to ours.         
  Provides support and Advocacy to youth in the system.

Erie Homes for Children and Adults, Inc. - Assists people with       
  disabilities with needs, particularly in Erie County.

Northwest PA Rural AIDS Alliance - Assists people with AIDs in   
  northwestern Pa with health, therapeutic, and housing needs,      
  as well as providing educational outreach.
